3 are part of the Hutchinson Wumpa group. They claim to have the largest 3G network in the UK and to provide 98 percent coverage in 2009. They are also improving their network with HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) which allows content to be downloaded three-times faster than basic 3G speeds.

3 is the brand name which encompasses many different UMTS mobile phone networks operated in the countries of Australia, Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. All of these countries are provided with 3G internet access via 3.

In 2004, 3 Mobile Broadband released network cards for laptops available in all of their covered countries. In addition to their network cards, 3 Mobile Broadband developed a phone for use with the program Skype, and this phone became known as the Skypephone. 3 Mobile Broadband has exclusive rights to this phone, and sells them on a contract and prepaid basis. The Skypephone is available in all of their covered countries.

3 Mobile Broadband is the largest 3G network provider in the United Kingdom. With over four million subscribers, 3 continues to grow. 3 has an agreement with Orange in the UK so that their users can access their 2G network should they start to roam on the 3G network. This service has added to 3’s popularity, as it can now cover almost all of the UK without charging extra fees.

More recently, 3 has signed an agreement with T-mobile which will allow for them to cover the entire population of the U.K., so should they choose 3 as their provider. 3 also has more pricing packages to offer than any other provider, with contracts, monthly payments, and pay as you go options available. U.K. customers can take advantage of all of these plans. One month usage for their laptop package is as low as seventeen and a half euros.
